Mission Statement:
To keep citizens of North Carolina and professionals working in the field of crop protection informed and current concerning crop protection standards, initiatives and product quality.
Association History:
A group of individuals engaged in manufacturing, sales, distibution, education and application of pesticides founded the Pesticide Association of North Carolina Inc. on June 9, 1972. North Carolina continues to be a leading agricultural state with approximately $62 billion in total annual sales of agricultural products. The founders of the Association realized the importance of communicating the value and safe use of crop protection chemicals to the agricultural industry of North Carolina. In 1995 the association changed its name to the Crop Protection Association of North Carolina, Inc. to better reflect its role of protecting this state's agribusiness interest.
Goals:
- Promote and encourage through education, the safe uses of crop protection products by properly following labeled guidelines.
- Promote better understanding, cooperation and a high standard of ethics among all persons with an interest in crop protection products.
- Further the interest of agriculture and its image with the public.
- Stimulate training and education of members to better serve the public.
- Cooperate with and advise the North Carolina Pesticide Board, Pesticide Advisory Committee, other appropriate governmental agencies and organizations on the proper use of crop protection products.
- Advise, assist and cooperate with legislative, regulatory bodies and administrative agencies in procuring progressive legislation and reulations reglating to crop protection products.
- Exercise any and all powers conferred by law on like associations.
- Work cooperatively with commodity and trade associations to represent our industry's viewpoint on the use of crop protection products.
